The Lange Shadow 130 LV GW Ski Boots are certain to shake up the industry, which hasn’t seen a dramatic change in the way the stiffest freeride boots are built in decades. In the two-piece overlap division, boots typically had an upper cuff with two pivots and rivets holding the cuff to the shell at the rear. The Shadow breaks new ground in eliminating the rear rivets and using a 2nd Suspension Blade attachment above the calcaneus. The new design promises to add an even more progressive quality to the legendary Lange flex and moderate some of the harshness felt at the limit of both forward and rearward loading. Fit options build on the dialed fit of the previous RX series boots, with the LV remaining 97mm in forefoot width in a 26.5.

Suspension Blade Dual Pivot–        Lange’s Suspension Blade Dual Pivot design provides better snow feedback, better energey transfer, and more power with less effort. A revolution in performance and control.

Dual Core Technology–        A “Power Injection” method allows Lange to inject two different durometers of plastic simultaneously through 5 injection ports, with the two plastics being directed to specific parts of the boot. The harder plastic goes to the heel, spine and lower shell to retain stiffness, while the softer plastic goes to areas that wrap the foot and lower leg for comfort.

In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.           Â
